- Guest speakers including Malik Kenyatta Yakini, founder and Interim Executive Director of the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network
- Live soul, reggae and hip hop music from local and regional bands including Thousands of One.
- An organic BBQ & vegetarian fare featuring food grown by local farmers, prepared by neighborhood chefs and sold at a suggested donation so everyone can enjoy and be nourished by the bounty of our region.
- Youth activities and performances
- Vendors with values, such as hand-crafted Columbian and Native American jewelry
- Dozens of non-profit organizations working for social justice and sustainability
The purpose of Ithaca's first annual Food Justice Summit is to unite the community to mobilize locally for food sovereignty and support food justice projects, specifically Ithaca Community Harvest and the work of GreenStar to create a system of regional food sustainability that promotes health, equity, and community control of essential resources.
